Spring Teacher Training: Seeds and Soil

During this in workshop teachers will have the opportunity to learn about best practices for starting seeds and soil testing with students. Grow Pittsburgh's first Teacher Training of 2022 will be held at in the greenhouse at Garden Dreams in Wilkinsburg! During this workshop attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to do simple soil tests with their students and use the results to inform their crop rotation and garden layout as well as which amendments to add to the soil. Participants will also learn how to start seeds with students and proper techniques and leave with a soil test kit and tray of seeds to take back to their classrooms to germinate. We ask that participants bring a small soil sample with them if they would like to practice with their own garden soil, these samples should be at least 1 cup of soil taken from a few different garden beds, from at least 2" deep. Come out and network with other teachers from around the region. We hope to see you there! On-site childcare and dinner will be provided.
