Description

From the Rockland County Legislature Rockland County Legislators voted unanimously tonight to condemn Vladimir Putin's invasion of the independent nation of Ukraine. Prior to the vote, Rockland County Legislature Chairman Jay Hood Jr. offered the invocation. "Tonight, we stand with the people of Ukraine as their independent nation endures a sixth day and night of bombardment by Vladimir Putin," Legislator Hood said. "The Ukrainian people have shown incredible resilience, refusing to back down or lay down their arms despite being outnumbered and outgunned. "They have organized a resistance that stymied Putin's efforts, but tonight, hundreds if not thousands of Russian troops appear ready to lay siege to Kyiv and other cities, and to the two million-plus people estimated to be sheltering there. "We pray for the people of Ukraine," Legislator Hood said. "Let us observe a moment of silence to honor the soldiers and civilians already lost in this needless invasion. Let us pray for peace." A special resolution was introduced and immediately adopted by the 13 legislators present for tonight's Legislative meeting.
