FRAMINGHAM, MA — One more mask mandate in Framingham will fall on Monday. Framingham Public Schools will allow students to choose whether to wear masks on school buses starting March 7. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday lifted a nationwide mask mandate for school buses and vans. School buses going mask-optional will align with mask mandates going away almost everywhere else in Framingham. The Board of Health last week voted to allow the citywide mandate to end on March 7. Masks will be optional in all city schools for students and staff starting on that date. Framingham will also stop requiring masks inside municipal buildings. One mask mandate will still be around come Monday: the CDC still requires masks on public transit, which includes MBTA trains and MWRTA buses — and any other transit system in the state and nation.
