EAST ISLIP, NY — A local celebrity is continuing an annual tradition with East Islip Middle School students. Rohan Murphy, East Islip alumni, acclaimed wrestler, powerlifter, and motivational speaker, visited the school's wrestling team last month to share his life's lessons and experiences. At the age of four, Murphy was born with severe birth defects that resulted in the amputation of his legs. Nevertheless, he persevered with athletics and wrestling at East Islip, Penn State and beyond, becoming a success story and "inspiration" for all.
