BRIDGEPORT, CT — A plane made an emergency landing Wednesday at Seaside Park, according to officials. First responders were notified about 5 p.m. by the Sikorsky Airport tower that contact had been lost with a single-engine Cesna with one person on board, according to a news release from the city of Bridgeport. Emergency communications personnel then received multiple calls from residents, reporting that a plane had landed in the park's West Beach area. No one was injured, no hazardous material was spilled, and there was no substantial damage to the aircraft or beach, according to the news release, which noted city first responders rushed to the scene. "We're grateful the pilot was able to do what seems (to) be all the right things and had the ability to land on the beach away from residential areas safely," Mayor Joe Ganim said in the news release. The incident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
