Hey, Sacramento! It's Thursday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on today in town. First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy. High: 66 Low: 48. Here are the top five stories in Sacramento today: The father who police said shot his three daughters, their chaperone and then himself inside a Sacramento church on Monday had been arrested days earlier and accused of drunkenly attacking a police officer and driving under the influence. Court records showed David Mora Rojas was arrested last week in Merced County and accused of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and DUI after authorities said he attacked a Los Banos California Highway Patrol officer. "He was drunk and while they were arresting him, or trying to, he decided he wanted to fight and ended up with felony charges because he assaulted a CHP officer, causing injuries," Deputy Daryl Allen of the Merced County Sheriff's Office told The Bee. (Sacramento Patch)According to the experts at Gasbuddy, gas prices are inching towards an average of $5 a gallon in several cities in California for the first time in history. Prices were initially projected to peak in the Sacramento region somewhere between $4.95 to $5.25 due to inflation and supply chain issues, but now, with the Russia/Ukraine crisis, we could see an even bigger jump at the pump. (ABC10)The Sacramento Police Department said 15-year-old Jackson Glazier has been found safe. He had been missing since 4 p.m. Sunday. Police said he was last seen around noon Monday close to Loaves & Fishes around 12th and B streets. Jackson was described as high risk due to his age and medical condition. Welcome home, Jackson. We're glad you're safe. (KCRA3)Sacramento County encourages microbusinesses in the county that have been adversely affected by the pandemic to apply to receive relief grants of $2,500. The new Microbusiness Grant Program is funded by the State of California's Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) and administered by Sacramento County. These new microbusiness grants do not need to be repaid, and the application period will be open April 1-29. Often operating as solopreneurs, freelancers and small business owners, a microbusiness typically receives less than $50,000 in revenue annually and has fewer than five full-time employees. A complete list of grant eligibility requirements is available on the Sac4Micro website. (saccounty.gov)Farmers in central California will be getting little to no water again from a key water system amid a persisting drought, but exactly how they're affected will vary. The Bureau of Reclamation said last week it will not be able to provide some farmers with water from the Central Valley Project, a vast system of dams, reservoirs and canals it oversees in the state. That means farmers in the agricultural region that produces much of the country's fruits, nuts and vegetables will again need to find other water sources - or leave land idle as many have done in recent years. Water managers and farmers have grown accustomed to cuts in recent years and expected the announcement. Still, "it's always disappointing when you hear zero percent," said Jose Gutierrez, chief operating officer of Westlands Water District, the country's largest agricultural water district.
