By John Gibson, WNIN March 1, 2022 U.S. Senator Todd Young says the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court should respect the constitution as it's written. The Indiana Republican told WNIN Lawmakers that he's heard good things about President Biden's pick, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. But he has a central constitutional question: "Does she regard it as a malleable document that she can sort of apply to current circumstances in a way that is consistent with her values or progressive values. Or instead, is she merely focused on applying the law as written to the facts of a given case." At a White House event on Friday introducing Jackson, President Biden described her as a consensus-builder with a "pragmatic understanding that the law must work for the American people." She would be the first black woman to serve on the nation's highest court. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
