Press release from the City of Nashua: March 2, 2022 Prepared by: Deputy Chief James Kirk Number of Alarms: 1Incident Commander: Deputy Chief James Kirk Personnel Called Back / Platoons: NoneIncident Number: 22-1658 Incident Date and Time: 9:22 PMFirst Unit on Scene: Engine 5 (Pine Hill Road Fire Station) Incident Location: 9 Bartemus Trail Apartment #307 Number of NFR Engines in response: 3Number of NFR Ladder trucks in response: 1Other NFR apparatus in response: n/aNumber of NFR personnel in response: 18 General Incident Description: At approximately 9:22 PM on February 24, 2022, the Nashua Fire Rescue dispatch center received a call from an alarm monitoring company reporting an alarm activation at 9 Bartemus Trail. A first alarm assignment was dispatched to the address. Engine 5, from the Pine Hill Road Fire Station, arrived on scene first and firefighters were met by occupants of the building who reported a fire in an apartment on the 3rd floor. At the same time, Nashua Fire Alarm received a 911 call reporting a fire in the building. Engine 5 firefighters quickly arrived on the 3rd floor and reported a fire in apartment #307 that was being kept in check by an activated sprinkler head. Engine 5 reported a heavy smoke condition on the 3rd floor and ordered a hoseline stretched to extinguish the fire. Firefighters from the Amherst Street Fire Station arrived soon after and assisted with removing occupants from the building, controlling the sprinkler system, and deploying tarps to protect building contents from water damage on lower floors. The fire was determined to be extinguished and the sprinkler system was shut down. In total, 1 apartment sustained fire damage with 6 apartments effected by the sprinkler water. Firefighters remained on scene for 2 hours assisting occupants and the building management with returning people to their apartments. Three occupants were unable to return to their apartments because of damage and were able to find temporary housing nearby. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
