NEWTOWN, PA — The historic Newtown Theatre is bringing the most lauded modern movies to the big screen in honor of the 2022 Academy Awards. The theatre is showing a run of one-night-only Best Picture nominees. "Dune" will screen Thursday at 7:30 p.m. "[Dune] follows a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny who must travel to a dangerous planet to ensure the future of his family and his people," according to the theater's news release. "As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive." The film stars beloved actors such as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, and Jason Momoa. Other upcoming Oscar movies at the Newtown Theatre include: "King Richard," March 10"Drive My Car," March 17"Nightmare Alley," March 22"The Power of the Dog," March 29"Don't Look Up," April 7Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $6 for Newtown Theatre members.
