WOODBURY, MN — A man's decision to illegally park in a handicap parking spot in Woodbury led to police finding drugs on him, according to police. Donald Raye Oakgrove, 31, faces a traffic charge and a fifth-degree drug charge in the case. According to the criminal complaint, at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, a Woodbury police officer was on a patrol in a shopping complex when he saw a car illegally parked in a handicapped parking stall. The vehicle did not have or show any handicapped tag or designation, police said. The officer ran the plate and confirmed that the driver did not have a handicapped designation. Investigators identified the driver as Oakgrove. When told about the illegal parking violation, Oakgrove claimed he did not see the sign, the complaint states. Oakgrove was taken into custody after police found an active warrant in his name. When he was searched, police found Heroin and Fentanyl, according to authorities. A review of the defendant's lengthy criminal history shows a history of violent crimes, the complaint states.
