Here are the top three stories in Jackson today: The One Percent Sales Tax Commission, in collaboration with JXNUNITED, plans to use funds to improve residential streets across Jackson. The commission has reportedly already improved approximately 200 lane miles throughout the city, including North State Street. According to Commission Member Pete Perry, neighborhood associations will receive a questionnaire to help determine which streets to prioritize. (WJTV)On Saturday, Apr. 9, the National African American Male Wellness Agency will host its wellness Walk/Run 5K, where Jackson participants can also receive free health screenings. The goal of the event is to raise awareness for preventable health diseases and encourage people to take charge of their health. The run will kick off at 7:00 a.m. at the Russell C. Davis Planetarium. (WJTV)A Clinton woman has been arrested after allegedly shooting her husband, who is a Jackson police officer. Officer Quincy Russell was injured in the domestic-related shooting, but is reportedly "doing okay" and has been released from a hospital. His wife, Willa Russell, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence in the incident.
