LA GRANGE, IL — A La Grange man got into a fighting stance with an officer and then threatened to beat up another one, police said. Jacob Hochgraver, 30, who has been in trouble locally before, was arrested on a charge of simple assault. Patch received the police report through a public records request. Police responded to an apparent confrontation about 9 p.m. Feb. 3 in the 10 block of West Harris Avenue. According to the report, officers told Hochgraver to back up several times. He twice "squared up" to an officer, apparently signaling he wanted to fight her, police said. After she got into her squad car, Hochgraver tried to open the passenger door, yelling at her to "get the f--- out." He was then arrested. The police report said Hochgraver threatened to "beat the s---" out of another officer, then told him, "I threatened you as a person, not as an officer." When Hochgraver claimed a health issue, police called paramedics. Hochgraver told the paramedics, "Suck my d---," then referred to them by the N-word, according to the report. Then he used the words, "f------ gringo," police said. According to the report, Hochgraver made references to an officer being indicted and investigated by the FBI. While being processed, he said, "I'm going to bury that f------ dirty (N-word)," the report said. An officer asked Hochgraver whether he was referring to the death of the officer under investigation or the death of the officer's career. In response, Hochgraver "vaguely" agreed that he was referring to her career, police said. In May 2021, Hochgraver was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct after he got into a fight and removed his pants, police said. In September, he was accused of battery and assault in an incident in which police said he attacked employees of The Elm restaurant, 23 W. Harris Ave., while uttering racial slurs.
