Gun Arrest Made On Woodruff Road: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A 55-year-old Joliet man who lives in the 1300 block of Arthur Avenue is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he was driving around the Forest Park area with a gun in his backseat. On Tuesday night, Charles Allen was booked into detention on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and driving on a suspended license. Joliet police made the traffic stop around 5:30 p.m. near Woodruff Road and Charlesworth Avenue "after determining that the driver, Allen, was driving while his driver's license was suspended," police reports show. Officers recovered a .357 handgun from the backseat of Allen's vehicle, according to police. Allen had a revoked Firearm Owner's Identification card, police reports show.
