WASHINGTON, D.C. — Faraji Leary, a native of Buffalo Grove, was recently honored at the 36th annual Black Engineer of the Year Award science, technology, engineering and mathematics Global Competitiveness Conference. He was one of 15 Northrop Grumman employees named BEYA Modern Day Technology Leaders. Leary, a graduate of Stevenson High School and Northwestern University, is a senior principal quality analyst for the company and based in Los Angeles. "I am honored to have been recognized as a BEYA Modern Day Technology Leader. It's an affirmation that continued strength and persistence usually pays off. Life is about learning and you must embrace challenges and opportunities," Leary said. "I've had an innate love for STEM since childhood and I like to say 'numbers are life.' I will continue to share my story in hopes that the youth will learn, grow and apply the knowledge." The BEYA STEM Conference included a variety of event spaces for attendees, exhibitors and sponsors to learn, network, share ideas and experience entertainment, according to a news release. The conference was available in-person and online, offering attendees the "digital twin experience" so that they could blend the in-person and digital experience in ways unique to their needs. Northrop Grumman is a technology company, focused on global security and human discovery.
