DETROIT — A Detroit grandmother was charged in connection to the non-fatal shooting of her 5-year-old grandson, after police said he shot his brother, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worth announced. Itterlee McNeil was charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse. She received a $10,000 bond and her next court date is scheduled for March 10 at 8:30 a.m. in the 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King. Police said McNeil's 8-year-old grandson son shot his 5-year-old brother in the right shoulder with an unsecured handgun he found in her home on Feb. 17 at 2:28 p.m. on the 13580 block of Rosemont Street in Detroit. Officers found McNeil applying pressure to the 5-year-old's chest on the kitchen floor, officials said. The child was taken to a nearby hospital where he was recovering from his wounds.
