Nassau Police Searching For 2 Missing Teenage Girls

SYOSSET, NY — Nassau County police are searching for two teenage girls who were last seen leaving the Mercy First facility in Syosset together Sunday afternoon. Police say 15-year-old Aponte Highsmith and 14-year-old Jenell Nagamuthu were last seen leaving the facility, located at 525 Convent Road, at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. They were reported missing on Feb. 28. Police say Highsmith is a Hispanic girl, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing about 163 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Police do not know what she was wearing. Nagamuthu is a Black girl, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Police do not know what she was wearing.
