FULTON COUNTY, GA — A teen accused of shooting at a deputy following a traffic stop last week in now behind bars, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said FCSO K-9s tracked Corliss Calloway, 18, through the woods. Deputies then took him into custody Tuesday. The Atlanta Police Fugitive Unit also assisted.
"I am thankful for the team effort seen today by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, and Atlanta Police Department," says Fulton County Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Labat. "Our deputies are dedicated to making this community a safe place for everyone, and getting bad actors off of our streets. I am grateful no deputies were injured in this incident."
According to the sheriff's office, Calloway, a repeat offender who is currently out on bond from a previous case, opened fire on a FCSO Scorpion Unit Investigator on Thursday evening.
The deputy, who was working an anti-crime detail, spotted a reported stolen vehicle, and attempted a traffic stop, the sherrif's office said.
Calloway fled from the deputy, firing shots from the vehicle that he ultimately left behind.
The deputy, fortunately, was not struck.
