Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Dad Was Watching Over Queens Hockey Player
We might not see Anthony Greco in a New York Rangers uniform again, but he already has achieved one of his life goals. He pulled on the red, white and blue jersey a few weeks ago in San Jose for his first game with the team he rooted for as a child.
Anthony inherited his passion for hockey and the Rangers from parents Paul and Mary Jane. Hockey parents are a unique breed. They change their lives to help their children succeed on the ice. Anthony’s parents were no different, dedicating themselves to their son’s passion.
Mom watched the game on television. Dad watched from above. A member of the Fire Department of New York, Paul knew that his son had signed with the Rangers before he died from illnesses caused by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Anthony’s future is unknown with the Rangers and in the NHL. However, he always will have and cherish January 13, 2022, the night he played for his beloved Rangers with many members of his family and the FDNY family rooting for him. Dad was rooting, too.
