Description
Well-established, family-owned boarding kennel seeks a qualified candidate to fill a part time position with potential for full-time. Candidate must be at least 18 years old, have own reliable transportation and have the ability and desire to handle dogs, cats and other boarding pets of all sizes and temperaments. Must possess a love of animals and be personable, caring, outgoing and have the ability to get along well with a variety of pet and human personalities. Candidate must be able to stand and move around easily for long periods of time as well as be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds short distances. Candidate should be able to understand and carry out oral and written directions and be able to communicate effectively in a professional manner. Candidate should demonstrate maturity, good judgment and strong problem-solving skills and have the ability and initiative to work with minimal supervision or direction using good time management. Candidate should be capable of working in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain and snow. Weekday and weekend flexibility is a plus.
Responsibilities include:
*Daily cleaning of animals and their pens including litter boxes and laundry
*Feeding and providing water for all animals including administering special diets and medications
*Ensuring a healthy, safe, clean and pleasant environment for the animals, staff and visitors
*Spot cleaning of animals and public areas as needed throughout the shift, including bathing and brushing of animals
*Follow protocols for safe handling, exercise and feeding as directed
*Cleaning and upkeep of facility including outside exercise areas
*Treating all boarders humanely and with compassion at all times regardless of the circumstances
*Working courteously and cooperatively with all staff
*Assisting with other duties and tasks as requested
Previous kennel or clinic experience is preferred but will consider otherwise well-qualified candidate
