DARIEN, IL — The four main local districts — Hinsdale High School District 86, Downers Grove High School District 99, Darien School District 61 and Cass School District 63 — are planning to start the school year remotely. Area school districts have decided lately on how to handle their classes in light of the pandemic. Teachers unions have pressed for more remote learning, while vast majorities of parents surveyed in some districts have supported at least some in-person lessons. Of the Darien-area districts surveyed by Patch, nine are planning remote instruction, seven are offering a blend of in person and remote and two are planning in-person lessons. A remote option is offered in all districts.
