Hi all, I'm an in home childcare provider located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood here in N Portland. I’ve been doing child care and working with children for over 35 years in total. I worked at Emanuel Childcare for 28 years but it closed in 2004 due to a lack of funding. After Emanuel Childcare closed, I worked odd jobs trying to figure out what I wanted to do until 2009. 2009 is the year that I made the decision to become registered for in home childcare and open up my home. My childcare, Adams Child Care, is located in North Portland, near Holy Redeemer Catholic School and Applegate school. The neighborhood in which my childcare is located is very safe, clean, and quiet and I’ve personally called this neighborhood my home for over 28 years. Adams Child Care is an advocate for staying on a daily routine. I feel that this is a way for me to create stability in a child’s life if they’re unable to have stability in other parts of their lives. A stable daily routine creates a safe space. I want the children to know that they are safe when they come into Adams Child Care. Here’s an overview of Adam Child Care’s daily routine schedule: 7:30 am - 8:15 am: Breakfast 8:15 am - 9:15 am: Free Play (Outside during the warmer months) 9:15 am - 9:45 am: Morning circle time for self expression (A various combination of story time, talking about their weekends, their feelings, yoga, sign language, ABC’s, 123’s, etc. These activities will vary morning/afternoon.) 9:45 am - 10:15 am: Art Time 10:15 am - 10:45 am: Free Play 10:45 am - 10:55 am: Clean up for lunch 11 am - 11:50 am: Lunch 11:45 am - Noon: Outside Time Noon - 2:30 pm: Nap 2:30 pm - 3 pm: Snack time 3 pm - 3:30 pm: Free play (Outside in the warmer months or puzzles if the children would like.) 3:30 pm - 4 pm: Closing circle to discuss their day (and a various combination of story time, yoga, sign language, ABC’s 123’s, etc. These activities will vary morning/afternoon.) 4 pm - 5:30 pm: Free play until parents arrive. Adams Child Care’s hours of operation are: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday & 7:30 am - 4:30 pm on Fridays. I like to have a medium to small sized group, I currently have 4 children in my care ranging from ages 2 - 3 years old. I have 2 openings for children aged 15 months and up.
