Description

## Farm Mechanic/ Equipment Maintenance Manager Champlain Valley Hops in Starksboro, VT is seeking a full-time salaried team member from April 1 to October 31. We are located 30 minutes south of Burlington, VT. The farm specializes in growing hops. We are passionate about cultivating this high-quality, responsibly grown, local specialty crop. The farm manages 37 acres of hops. The Farm Mechanic/Equipment Maintenance Manager will be focused on farm projects that involve assembling, maintaining and operating various growing and processing equipment in addition to servicing and maintaining our tractors, harvesters, mowers, a gator and various farm vehicles. This will be an exciting project to work on and we look forward to meeting the team member who will work with us to pull off a successful harvest. In addition to maintaining the farm equipment throughout the growing season, there are times when it is all-hands-on-deck and may include some field work. We recognize that hops have very little (recent) history in New England, and that applicants may not have direct experience with these plants. This is fine - we are actually much more focused on finding a person who has good mechanical skills, is willing to work hard, learn, and work as a team. ### Job Requirements *excellent mechanical skills and/or some trade school or equivalent training * experience operating farm equipment * dedicated, positive mindset * reliable vehicle and U.S. drivers license * willing to work some (reasonable) weekends and evenings * safety mindset: understanding and adherence to safe work practices *ability to lift 50lbs *ability to prioritize work assignments *ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments *ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. ### Hours and Compensation This position is expected to average about 45 hours of work per week. There are seasonal spikes - expect to have some long days during crunch time. These periods are often exciting and rewarding, and we make sure to design these days to support the crew. The position is hourly $20-$26 per hour depending on experience. To apply, send resume with relevant references and a brief cover letter to [email protected].
