We are conducting a paid research study to examine how repetitive transcranial
magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can be used to improve stress response and treatment
effects in people early in methadone treatment for opioid use disorder. You can help
us learn more about how the brain works and improve our understanding of
psychiatric disorders! This research is being conducted through the Substance
Abuse Research Division at Wayne State University School of Medicine.
You may be eligible if:
• You are between the ages of 21-70
• You are right-handed
• You are currently receiving methadone or buprenorphine treatment for
opioid use disorder
• You are not pregnant or trying to become pregnant
• You do not have any history of seizure or seizure disorder
Participants can expect to:
• Complete interviews and questionnaires
• Complete cognitive tasks
• Be screened for substance use and pregnancy
• Attend 5 assessment visits
• Attend two sets of 3-day, outpatient treatment visits
• Receive rTMS brain stimulation during five of the ten treatment visit days
• Spend a total of ~50 hours over 10 visits participating
• Receive up to $1,560 for participating
