First shift, 40 hours per week, seasonal from March through November 2022. We have openings in Grounds Landscape Maintenance, Athletic Field Maintenance, and Golf Maintenance. Work is primarily outdoors maintaining the District’s grounds, whether it be our parks, our athletic fields, or golf course grounds. Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform general grounds and landscape maintenance. Complete routine grounds maintenance tasks such as raking, mowing, weeding, planting, mulching and pruning. - Perform general athletic field maintenance. Prepare outdoor athletic fields for use, which includes, but not limited to, fence and goal post installation, dragging and chalking the fields, and setting bases. - Perform grounds maintenance on the outdoor areas of the golf grounds, which includes, but is not limited to, mowing, string trimming, changing cups, repairing ball washers, bunker raking and other various projects or duties as assigned. - Operate riding and power hand mowers and/or a tractor for mowing turf, as well as other equipment needed to complete maintenance work on the golf grounds. Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old. Completion of four years of high school or equivalent. Must possess customer service skills and an ability to operate equipment and tools proficiently. Experience in grounds maintenance is preferred. Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. Work Conditions: Work is performed primarily outdoors where there is often exposure to inclement weather, odors, and toxic agents. Required to stand and talk or hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and smell. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Workers are allowed and encouraged to use mechanical or manual assists for lifting above 40lbs. as a guideline.
