EDC Engineering LLC is looking for an entry level laborer to support our welders/fitters onsite at the shipyard on Harbor Island. The successful candidate is dependable, punctual, and able to follow direction. Previous experience with welding or fitting is not needed but experience working on your feet and in the field is helpful. We’re looking for a long-term candidate who is looking for a secure and rewarding form of employment. We expect all field employees to: Actively participate in a strong safety culture. Recognize safety hazards and risks. Participate in onsite safety meetings. Follow EDC Engineering LLC and client safety policies and procedures. Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite. Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work. Display a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment. High attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors. Some physical demands of being a Laborer/Firewatch include: Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations. Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs. Standing for extended periods of time. Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis. Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools. Basic Requirements: 6 months previous experience working in the field/on an active jobsite. Must be able to work starting at 6am Must be able to meet all physical requirements. Must be able and willing to attend mandatory safety meetings. Preferred Requirements: Experience in a shipyard or marine construction environment. Familiar with some aspects of welding and their impact on the project. Able to read, write & communicate in English.
