The University of Miami, School of Nursing & Health Studies welcomes Dr. Virginia LeBaron. About our our guest speaker: Dr. Virginia LeBaron is an Associate Professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. The majority of Dr. LeBaron's career has focused on adult oncology palliative care. She has practiced clinically as a medical oncology staff nurse and palliative care nurse practitioner, and since 2004 has been involved with global palliative care and cancer control efforts (primarily in India and Nepal). Her research aims to leverage technology to optimize safe and effective cancer pain management and has been funded by the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and received her BSN from the University of Virginia; MS from the University of Maryland, Baltimore; PhD from the University of Utah College of Nursing and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
