Description
RHDV2 Vaccine Clinic - A pre-emptive service to help protect your rabbit from this highly contagious and life-threatening disease RHDV2 vaccine clinic at Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic of Roanoke - Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease is a virus is spreading eastward affecting both wild and domestic rabbits. Cases in domestic rabbits have been confirmed in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee & New York. This disease has not currently been confirmed in the state of Virginia, but it will be here soon. Our goal is to protect domestic rabbits from this disease before it arrives and they are exposed. Once it arrives if your rabbit is not currently vaccinated, it may become more difficult, risky and possibly more expensive to have your rabbit seen in veterinary clinics for medical care. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL AND TICKET TO HELP KEEP THE WAIT TIME LOW ON VACCINATION DAY! RHDV2 Vaccine: You must purchase a ticket prior to the event! This ticket is good for the initial vaccination & brief exam on April 2, 2022 and for the booster vaccine given 3 weeks later on April 23, 2022. There will NOT be any sales at the door. Each rabbit must have its own ticket for the vaccine. Vaccine tickets are non-refundable. If your rabbit is ill, pregnant, nursing babies, not eating or drinking normally, is on any immune suppressing medication or has been exposed to anyone quarantining for COVID, please do not subject your rabbit to a vaccination until these factors are resolved. Sick rabbit appointments can be scheduled by calling our clinic's main number 540-989-4464. Vaccine Reactions: Currently, the only reported vaccine reaction is swelling at the injection site for up to 48 hours. As with any stressful situation, monitor your rabbit's appetite and stool production after the vaccine clinic and contact an emergency vet if you see signs of lethargy, decreased appetite and/or stool production. Vaccine Consent Form: Upon arrival (on both vaccination days) the rabbit owner/agent (ticket holder must be 18 years of age or older) must review and sign the RHDV2 vaccine consent form, prior to your rabbit receiving the vaccine. Be sure to list all of your rabbits on the consent form that will be receiving the vaccine that day. Additional registration paperwork will be required for new clients. Carrier: All rabbits must be in a safe escape-proof carrier. Due to team members continually traveling inside and outside the clinic, the phones will not be answered. Upon arrival with your rabbit, please park in a parking space at our clinic's entrance side of the Tanglewood West Building. A team member will be with you as quickly as they can. Please have patience with our staff members during this time.
