Run and Walk Options
1.7 mile walk: Our walk includes a mural of Amanda Gorman reading her original poem “The Hill We Climb,” during the inauguration ceremony of President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. She is the youngest poet ever to read at a presidential inauguration. The mural was done by Kaliq Crosby.
3.3 mile run: Our run includes murals of Amanda Gorman and the late Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg – a strong advocate for women and civil rights issues. The mural of Justice Bader Ginsburg was done by Rose Jaffe.
Additional opportunities to celebrate Women’s History
During March, the Smithsonian is celebrating women in science and technology with 120 life-size statues. Each one depicts a woman who works in the STEM field. The project is a collaboration between the Smithsonian and If/Then, an initiative focused on connecting young girls with women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math careers.
