Certificate in Nonprofit Management Program Details: Leading a successful mission-driven nonprofit requires more than goals and plans; it requires concrete knowledge and skills. NICNE’s five-course Certificate in Nonprofit Management program will teach you the skills needed to strengthen your organization and better achieve your mission. Each course is led by an accomplished expert in their field. Instructors include nonprofit executives, master-level leaders committed to collaboration as a tool to drive social change, and instructors and guest speakers with advanced certifications and decades of experience in nonprofit leadership. This program is valuable for Nonprofit Leaders seeking to broaden or refresh their skill set, managers seeking leadership positions within their organization, employees seeking to improve leadership skills, board members seeking to serve in a more strategic advisory role, and people seeking to transfer from the for-profit to the nonprofit arena. Course Details: Building the “Modern and Lucky” Nonprofit: A Roadmap to Sustainability. As the leader of a nonprofit, you know the competitive landscape that exists for both donors and volunteers. You know the pressure to remain loyal to your organization’s mission that is simultaneous to the need to continually evolve as an organization. No wonder you lose sleep sometimes! This four-session series will examine the pillars of a healthy, sustainable organization: adaptation, mission, communication, and fund development, and how you can ensure your organization is as strong as possible. Session 1: Agility and Disruption: Foundations for a strategy to steer your organization. This session will focus on "disruptive agility," the work you are doing now, and the work you must begin to do to envision and embrace the future of your organization. Session 2: What is "Mission-Driven" Anyway? We are told that a successful and healthy organization lives their mission, values, and purpose every day. We will focus on ensuring your mission has meaning and purpose, while clearly reflecting the organization's work. This includes strategy to drive foundational and productive conversations between board and staff to uncover purpose and develop a mission statement that reflects the vision and values of staff, board, and all other relevant stakeholders. Session 3: Communicating Clearly - Leading with AIM. Successful nonprofits inspire, communicating in ways that engage each person connected to mission and core values. Great nonprofits move beyond effective internal engagement, to lead by example as they mobilize every sector - government, business, nonprofits, and the public. Greatness is built upon using the communication principles of AIM (Audience, Idea, and Message) to accomplish your mission. Session 4: Building Your Future Donor and Volunteer. Organizations must simultaneously interact with current donors while cultivating new ones. High performing organizations rely on crisp and concise statements of their Social Return on Investment (SROI) to raise funds. SROI's outline areas of focus, desired change, proof of impact, and illustrates the magnitude of the entire problem it set out to solve, and how much of the problem it will address. Explore raising awareness of your organization, build a persuasive message that resonates with potential donors, and keep donors connected. Instructor: Dr. Carol Jambor-Smith is Founder and Principal of Jambor-Smith Communications. She looks forward to leading this course and has extensive strategic communications experience working with clients to align messaging and implement strategy on a variety of projects, including electronic and print material, public speaking talking points, media relations, video production, and training programs. Her clients include B2B, B2C, and not-for-profit entities, ranging from a publicly-traded health management company, an international philanthropic organization, university and higher education service providers, arts organizations, IT support companies, and a master agent technology company. Recent projects include developing and executing a crisis communication plan, developing and leading a customer service training program, and developing and executing a PR strategy. **This is one of the five courses in the Certificate in Nonprofit Management Program.
