Hi, please make sure to read the entire ad! thanks so much for taking the time! My mom's name is Olga Opsahl. She is 76, very friendly, and an interesting artistic woman. She has frontotemporal dementia, which requires lots of help during the day. This includes help with eating, toileting, possibly bathing, dressing, etc. She can walk and go for hikes but needs someone to pay attention for ice and help her on difficult walks(she has new boots with retractable cleats). She has some difficulty communicating but over time that gets easier. She loves going out and about during the day and hiking even in the cold. She is a very lovely person. Most people enjoy meeting and getting to know her. She has some anxiety issues at times, but if she keeps busy she is mostly fine. Job details: Right now we are looking for daytime help. Eventually(or in the very near future with the right person(s) we could do short term or long term live in help(the pay rate for live in would be negotiable). If you have interest in the live in position you would work for an extended trial period before any long term agreement for work is made. The live in position may involve spending part of the year in Cape Cod in our family's home. Daytime job hours are aprox. 9:30 - 4 pm. We are a bit flexible with times and days to work, but will need to have a reliable schedule we can count on. There will be a short list of responsibilities you will be in charge of regarding our mom's care. Only part time help needed for now (3-4 days per week) we currently have a friend who takes her out Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Other Responsibilities: Keeping track of her personal belongings (cell phone, gloves, etc), help with getting in and out of the car (seat belt, putting music on), administering edibles in the afternoon, cutting up food and help with eating. What are we Looking for : We want someone who is extremely patient, likes to drive, and likes going for hikes. We are getting funding for her care through a state program but can pay by check, venmo, or possibly cash. Pay is $19 an hour plus money for gas and car wear and tear. Caregiving or nursing experience is a plus but not necessary if you have the right energy and relevant experience. Raising children and caring for toddlers is relevant experience. A car is required for the job. * We also need someone who is really reliable and dependable. My brother and I are her sole caregivers and really need someone we can trust and has our family's best interest at heart. Perks of the Job: You can do some personal errands while you are with my mom. She just likes being out and about and driving around. You can possibly take your dog for a walk with her, or bring your child occasionally. My mom does need a lot of attention most of the time, so this might not work all the time. Also you can make meals at your house with my mom and share a meal with her. If you have animals she does love horses and other animals. You can get lots of exercise, do fun things together, go to the pool/hot tub in barre, etc. Please read and reread our post to make sure you can meet the requirements.
