Groove the night away with New Orleans swing band Midnight BBQ! Theater for the People and Green Acre bring you an evening of live acoustic jazz with Stu Dias’ New Orleans swing band Midnight BBQ. Modeled after Legendary groups like the New Orleans Jazz vipers, and the Palmetto Bug Stompers, this minimalist swinging group is as comfortable playing Fats Waller as it is playing Django Reinhardt. You will not be disappointed! There will be ample seating as well as space to dance, so bring your dancing shoes if you like but know you can sit if you prefer! This event is about having a good time AND elevating our awareness. Part of the Pupil of the Eye series that centers people of African descent and the African American experience, this event will be an immersive jazz experience interspersed with anecdotes about the history of this truly American music with African roots.
