Invest & Innovate, hosted by EU@SXSW, is an afternoon of international networking and inspiration. Invest & Innovate is an afternoon dedicated to building prosperous Transatlantic bridges, focused on an open dialogue of like-minded professionals who are committed to innovation furthering the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Built on the vision of Austin legend George Kozmetzky, we believe that the most impactful outcomes are best generated when each ingredient for innovation is brought together in a single room: government, capital, education, entrepreneurship, and functional support. In 2022, we are building more resilient multinational bridges and stronger economic opportunities across sectors and geographies. Join us to meet Transatlantic changemakers, groundbreaking leaders, and to hear from our esteemed 2022 guest of honor, Dr. Maro Ohanian, whose work is revolutionizing leukemia treatment. WHAT HAPPENS AT INVEST & INNOVATE? Following introductory remarks, Dr. Maro Ohanian will share how her Transatlantic research is changing the future of how we treat leukemia. From 4:00 - 6:00, we will network and enjoy a lovely evening in the patio at the EU House, complete with biergarten and a few surprises. Following Invest & Innovate's networking, the EU House programming will continue with a sculpture reveal and the EU Reception. WHO SHOULD ATTEND INVEST & INNOVATE? No! But you must register here on Eventbrite in order to attend. If you are registering another person(s), please include their details--or they will not be allowed in the venue.Are there any other attendance requirements? Yes, all guests must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result from the previous 48 hours in order to enter the venue. Masks should be worn while inside the ballroom.Do I need to be from Europe to attend? No! Anyone attending SXSW from anywhere in the world is welcome. Our spotlight will be on tremendously accomplished EU delegates and dignitaries, however. Are there any qualifications to attend as an entrepreneur? Any entrepreneur may attend. If you are fundraising and hoping to meet investors, please be respectful and courteous to our many investment guests. Investment guests range across all sizes, stages, and theses; however, healthcare, cleantech, and social impact will feature heavily. Entrepreneurs from outside the US will find the most success if they have already established a US entity or are planning to do so soon. Is there a sector focus? Invest & Innovate is open to all sectors. However, we do put a special emphasis on innovation within the sciences (healthcare, sustainability and energy, biotech, etc) and within social impact.Do I need to register as an accredited investor--and is there any meeting facilitation? You should be an accredited investor if you register as such. If you would like to share your thesis, desired stage, and requirements, we are happy to informally make introductions. If that is of interest, please email the host of the event at [email protected]. Is this an outdoor event? I'm concerned about COVID-19 and crowds. Invest & Innovate will be held in a large outdoor patio. There are tents, in case of inclement weather, and you will need to walk through the EU House building to reach the patio.
