Join us for a culinary trip through Mexico at the beautiful Carriage House at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens Transplant and Root presents: La Mesa de Centro Hispano. Join us for an evening of community, cooking, and conversation at the beautiful Knoxville Botanical Gardens to benefit Centro Hispano. One of the most visual and visceral ways we experience culture is through food. This Cinco de Mayo, let Michelin Starred Chef Brian Runge whisk you away on a culinary tour of Mexico as we celebrate the cuisine that sustains us and the culture that makes our community so vibrant. In Spanish, mesa means table, where friends and family gather as a family to share their stories. For Knoxville’s Latino community, Centro is that mesa—a community center and hub where we commune, support each other, and share in rich cultural exchange. As our city, county and region continue to grow, organizations like Centro Hispano are critical not only to the wellbeing and success of the communities we serve but to the larger community as a whole. From housing and financial resources to English-language training, adult education, youth development, and business services, Centro Hispano has spent more than a decade empowering Latinos and building a network of allies.
