A celebration of the life of Bonnie Ora Sherk
Rachel Binah and Abby Kellner-Rode invite you to join in a Celebration of Life
for their sister Bonnie Ora Sherk (1945-2021)
Bonnie was a groundbreaking conceptual and transformational public spaces performance artist who explored human beings’ relationships with the natural world. She shared knowledge about ecology, art and place-making through community projects such as her Portable Parks series, Crossroads Community -The Farm, and A Living Library.
Her art examined equality between humans and other species, and sought to work on a more planetary, ecological understanding of who and where we are in the universe and on the planet, in relation to other species and phenomena.
We will gather at the San Francisco Art Institute for a memorial program in the Osher Lecture Hall and a reception on the Quad and in the cafe, followed by a sunset ritual bell-ringing led by Brenda Hutchinson on the upper plaza. Guests may bring a bell to ring if they wish, and bells will also be available so that all may participate.
