MLC Guides will lead you through the sequence of language instruction for young children in a Montessori environment. Children are immersed in language before birth. Oral language is the foundation of all language instruction in Montessori schools. Children absorb language and culture from their family and the world that surrounds them. When children are 3 and enter Montessori school, they begin to notice that pictures and words may represent people, places and things they have expeirenced in life. Through a process of discovery, children begin to associate symbols to sounds and create meaningful words. This early writing will lead to early reading. Montessori Language instruction is phonetic based. This foundation empowers young minds to decode and comprehend words they create and read.
