TEWKSBURY, MA — A pedestrian was hit by a snowplow in Tewksbury Friday night, police said.
Police are investigating the incident, which involved a privately-owned snowplow that was not plowing at the time, Tewksbury Chief Ryan Columbus said in a news release.
At 9:18 p.m. Friday, police were sent to 360 Main Street for a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Officers learned the pedestrian was walking along the side of the road when they were hit by the snowplow, according to the release.
The pedestrian was treated by first responders, taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then moved by helicopter to a Boston hospital for further treatment.
Tewksbury and state police and the Middlesex District Attorney's office are investigating.
