UPDATE: Norwood Man Upgraded To Fair Condition After Crash

NORWOOD, MA - A Norwood man has been upgraded to fair condition after sustaining what were life-threatening injuries in a snowmobile crash Saturday afternoon in Shelburne, New Hampshire. Richard Conley, 51, of Norwood, was upgraded to fair condition today, according to Cassidy Smith, the media relations specialist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. No further information was available. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department reported Monday that the crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. Saturday on Corridor 19 as Conley was traveling westbound. He struck a rock on the opposite side of the trail, ejecting Conley and causing significant damage to his snowmobile. Members of Conley's riding group called 911, and EMS personnel from Gorham Fire and EMS responded utilizing their Rescue Tracked UTV to transport Conley to an awaiting ambulance. He was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Conley's injuries were deemed significant and life-threatening at that time. He was subsequently flown by a DHART helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Evidence at the scene indicated that Conley was traveling at an excessive speed when he went over a rise in the trail and struck the rock on the opposite side of the trail, according to Lieutenant Mark Ober of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. This was one of three New Hampshire snowmobile crashes on Coos County trails on Saturday. The other two were in Gorham and Berlin.
