NEW YORK CITY — A Bronx man carried out a bizarre human feces attack on a subway platform, authorities said. The arrest of Frank Abrokwa, 37, on Monday came hours after a NYPD-released video from the subway assault went viral. The video showed a man — who police say is Abrokwa — walk up to a 43-year-old woman sitting on a bench at the East 241st Street subway station on Feb. 21. Without warning, the man smears excrement on the woman's head and neck. The viral video added fuel to growing concerns about subway safety. Mayor Eric Adams said Monday the incident, and others, likely stemmed from mental health issues. "That's a horrific experience for anything to go through and the police department is going to apprehend the person involved," he said. Sure enough, NYPD officers quickly made an arrest Monday. Abrokwa is no stranger to being accused of violence. He has three open criminal cases against him, records show. Two of which, from early January and February, involve misdemeanor assault charges, court records show. A third from Feb. 22 — one day after the subway feces attack — includes a count of second-degree menacing with a weapon, records show. Abrokwa, in the subway assault, faces requested charges of forcible touching, menacing, disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.
