Press release from the University of Delaware: Article by UD Police February 28, 2022 UD Police investigate report of sexual assault in vehicle of Uber driver The University of Delaware Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred in the vehicle of an Uber driver Sunday morning in the parking lot of Redding Residence Hall on the campus. UDPD is committed to assisting victims. For anyone experiencing sexual misconduct, UD's Sexual Offense Support (S.O.S) program provides crisis support and victim advocacy and is available 24/7 by calling 302-831-1001 and pressing "1." For more information, visit  www.udel.edu/sos and www.udel.edu/knowmore. When using any rideshare agency, always check the vehicle to make sure it's the correct one, have the driver tell you their name and make sure someone always knows where you are. Other safety tips include: wait in a safe location, follow along with GPS, share your ride with others and never pay with cash. When on campus, students can utilize UD's safety escort program by calling 302-831-RIDE. Members of the UD community are reminded to be vigilant: If you see something, say something. Use the blue light phones and take advantage of the safety aids offered by the LiveSafe app.  For more safety tips, visit the UD Police website.
