STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford boys basketball team held off a comeback attempt by the Bethel Wildcats to win 56-52 and advance to the semifinals of the SWC tournament.
The Red Devils dominated the second quarter and outscored Bethel 19-2 to take a 20-point lead into halftime.
The Wildcats chipped away at the lead, but Stratford held on for the victory.
Jayquan Kirkland led Stratford with 21 points, while Jzhuan Davis added 15.
Lorenzo Almonte scored a team-high 20 points for Bethel.
Stratford will face Kolbe Cathedral in the semifinals at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Sheehan Center.
