NAUGATUCK, CT — A 20-year-old Waterbury man was arrested on assault, reckless endangerment and related charges Friday after Naugatuck police said he used his vehicle to strike a victim following a drug deal that went awry.
Mark Oladapo was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and sale of a controlled substance following the 1 a.m. incident on Marshall Avenue.
Naugatuck police officers initially were called to the scene on a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, but while investigating the incident, they learned that "the accused intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle following a drug transaction" that had gone bad.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head and a serious injury to his right lower leg, according to police, and he was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment.
Oladapo is being held in lieu of bail of $150,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 16.
