Description

I am looking for a new home for my 10lb rat terrier/chihuahua mix. After three years of having him, we have slowly realized that he is not a good fit for our home and lifestyle. The good: He is a very well behaved and quiet dog. He is house trained, and he actually enjoys spending time in his crate because it is his safe space. He does well riding in the car, and he knows how to walk on a leash. He does fine with other calm pets, he just does not like to be chased by hyper pets. He is also a cuddler and loves to lay on laps! He’s a sweet boy that just tries his best to be a good dog. The reason he is a bad fit for us: He has a lot of general anxiety. It doesn’t cause behavior problems, but because we live in a house with other people (and we aren’t sure when we won’t) he spends most of the day terrified and shaking and hiding. We have tried to help him work through this, but have come to the conclusion that he really needs a different and more quiet environment in order to feel comfortable and happy. I think he would do great in a home with one or two people who know how to be patient with a timid dog. An older person or couple could be a great fit since he doesn’t need a lot of exercise and would be perfectly happy hanging out in their lap all day! He is also fine with younger people though, but maybe not with very young children since they might scare him.. so older children would probably be best. I can answer any questions you have. I want to try to make sure he goes to a place that would be a better fit for him! Small rehoming fee of $25 to ensure he doesn’t go to anyone with bad intentions
