Britton Nursery is a family-run, wholesale perennial nursery that operates seasonally growing the highest quality perennials to supply garden centers and landscapers throughout the state with beautiful flowers. Employment is seasonal, fast pace, and physically demanding but rewarding. Employees at Britton Nursery enjoy a family atmosphere and a positive work environment. Employees work Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM with some fluctuation/shortening of days or cancelations due to weather at the beginning and end of the season. The production line team at Britton Nursery is responsible for ensuring that Britton Nursery has an uninterrupted supply of perennials of outstanding quality. Team members work in an assembly-line style production system to up-pot plants from liners into 1 gallon pots in a fast-paced, teamwork-focused outdoor setting. Team members must be able to produce exceptional quality and consistency at a pace that keeps up with high sales demands. Our production line is not automated, so our production line team members work by hand to fill pots with soil, remove plants from liners, plant them into the soil, tag them, transport them to the appropriate greenhouse, and water them, all the “old-fashioned style” by hand. These tasks require a high level of physical ability as well as attention to detail at every step to produce plants of the highest quality. While this work is physically demanding, employees who enjoy working with plants and outdoors will find being part of the growing process at Britton Nursery very rewarding and satisfying. Required Skills: -Cheerful attitude and willingness to do what is asked of the team. -Ability to work and communicate in a team setting. -Attention to details. -Critical thinking and decision making. -High School diploma. Preferred Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the production team are high. Team members must have the physical stamina to be on their feet performing tasks for 8 hours a day without losing efficiency or quality. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally may be asked to lift up to 50 pounds. Workplace Environment: The production line team works in a fast-paced, outdoor environment with constant physical activity, never sitting at a desk, regularly exposed to hot, cold, and wet conditions. On days of extreme or inclement weather, indoor tasks may be assigned, or the workday may be canceled. Britton Nursery Team Members may be asked to perform other duties as assigned which are not listed on this document. Hourly rate starting at $13.00 - $14.00.
