2022 Lawn Season, Employees Needed - Small Family Owned Service
Jobs
Colorado Springs CO
Description
SEASON STARTS AS SOON AS THE WEATHER IS READY. We are a small family-owned lawn service looking for individuals to help Rake, Aerate, & Fertilize lawns this Spring, continue to help with Mowing lawns through the rest of the season through October, and then help with Leaf Clean Ups through about November. This is a seasonal position. We work on mostly residential lawns, so we do not work from about December through February. We work individually most of the season, being responsible for our own trucks, equipment & routes. However, with communication from everyone throughout the day, it’s a team effort to get all jobs completed companywide on a daily basis. Spring work is definitely harder than Summer Mowing, so Spring takes a lot more communication & determination to get things finished. Spring lasts about 6-8 weeks before Summer begins in which the physical difficulty will tend to lighten up a bit. Our typical schedule is Mon-Thurs from 7:00 am until all scheduled jobs are complete. End time can vary but is usually no later than 5pm. If we can help it, our daily goal is much sooner than 5pm. Our Weekly goal is to be done by Thursday to have a 3-day weekend. 4 – 10-hour days, each day about 1 hour of load and drive time to the first jobsite, about 1 hour drive time back to our facility and unload time, 1-2 hours of drivetimes throughout the day in between jobsites, and about 6-7 hours of lawn work on properties. Our workload really depends on weather. We keep Friday and Saturday open in case we can’t finish by Thursday. Spring can be more inconsistent because of inclement weather. It could snow on a Mon & Tues causing us to work Weds – Sat as an example. The Mon – Thurs Schedule coincides with nicer weather becoming more constant as we move towards Summer Mowing, usually by May/June through the rest of the season. If hired, you’ll be solely responsible for taking care of our long-time customers, friends, family members, and brand-new customers that trust us to do everything possible to take care of their property with little to no supervision. Training Pay is $14.00 an hour until we’re confident enough to turn you loose on your own (usually around 1 work week). After training, starting pay is $20 per hour. Spring Services such as Aeration & Raking are more physically challenging than Summer Mowing, so anyone that is hired on in the beginning of Spring and sticks with us through the beginning of Summer will receive an extra paycheck bonus at the end of June. The extra bonus check amount will be calculated as an average of Weekly Checks from the beginning of the Season through June and paid in the first week of July. Training is provided regardless of experience so it’s ok if you’re not familiar with lawn care as long as you’re capable and willing to learn. This can be a very detail oriented and physically demanding position that requires someone to be always alert and aware of their surroundings. We understand this is a seasonal job, and most people are looking for something year-round, but also please understand we would like to see someone here through the end of the season and not just a couple weeks. We’ve seen a lot of great people come through here in our 20 Years of Service that ultimately are using us as a steppingstone to get where they want to be but stick with us for at least the full season or more. We’re not looking for the typical lifelong laborer that bounces from company to company. We’re looking for people that can utilize their skills beyond just simply mowing lawns. Residential customers require more special attention than commercial accounts. We’re looking for friendly smiles, attention to detail, and the understanding we’re not just mowing their grass, we’re on customer’s personal property trying to make things as neat and tidy as if they would if they were still able to do it themselves. Larger companies who do more commercial lawn care tend to pay around minimum wage all season while being supervised with a large group all day. This can be less labor intense as each individual is usually responsible for smaller portions of jobs. What makes us different is we work individually, so all our people are considered as Crew Leaders as they are solely responsible for individual routes, the entire property, and for everything we own; therefore, we do pay more because of the increased responsibility and expectations. Our website if you want to check us out is www.intermountainlawns.com Please do NOT call or text our office number. This line is dedicated to customers only. Our office manager will only direct you back to replying by email. Please send us an email with a description about who you are and why this position may interest you. A resume is great but not necessary. Anyone who sends a resume only usually gets looked at last. It’s nice to read about how serious someone might be in their desire to work with us & determine how well they might fit in with our team. It also helps us see how good you are at communication because a lot of our communication throughout the day between crews is done through text. Finally, we put a lot of effort into writing this ad and hoping to find people that can reciprocate that effort trying to secure this position and use that same energy servicing our customers. We will check Email and respond to you with the location and times for an interview. Thank you so much for considering to work with us and we're looking forward to your help!
