Good day, people of Denver! It's me again, Brad K. Evans, your host of the Denver Daily. Tuesday's weather: Mild with periods of sun. High: 63 Low: 37. Here are the top stories today in Denver: Who is bankrolling elections in Denver? With a municipal election a little more than a year away, where the mayor's office has an open seat, and all of the City Council seats are up for re-election, the Denver Clerk's office has launched a new campaign finance tool that's supposed to make it clearer (and easier) to see where the money is coming from in Denver elections. (Denverite) How Denver has changed over the years. Denver looks much different than it did 10 years ago, and the city has grown by nearly 20 percent over the last decade. One study even goes so far in calling Denver "one of the most gentrified cities in the nation." Here's a peek at some of the changes that have been made to Denver's urban core neighborhoods. (303 Magazine) Denver's moving forward with a controversial mandatory affordable housing plan. The City of Denver is working to create a regulatory instrument that will require developers to build or make a financial contribution toward affordable units when building market rate housing. (Olxpraca) Police officials stress dangers of fentanyl abuse. Deaths from fentanyl across metro Denver has hit a fever pitch, which mirrors the number of people who've fatally overdosed in Colorado. Those deaths have increased by over 1,800 percent between 2015 and 2021, and local, regional and state officials are scrambling to stem the body count. (Gazette)CDOT monitoring system has gone online on I-25. Colorado Department of Transportation has installed vehicle detection devices for vehicles that enter I-25 that measure the number of vehicles, their speed, and how many vehicles are waiting to enter the highway. (9News) From our sponsor:Looking for a healthy alternative to that mid-week glass (or three) of wine? Our partners at Betera set out to create beverages that were sophisticated and flavorful enough to drink at cocktail hour but with zero hangover risk. (Their motto is "Drink like there's tomorrow.") Betera's drinks are designed by a Michelin-starred chef using natural botanicals — they're lightly effervescent, sippable, refreshingly bitter and at home in a stem glass or in a highball on the rocks. Betera offers three recipes — Rhubarb-Hibiscus, Elderflower-Lime and Ginger-Orange. We've tried all three and loved them equally — we recommend the mixed case as a great place to start. Betera has extended their 15 percent discount on first orders to Daily readers, in appreciation for the enthusiastic response so far. Enter Patch15 at checkout and https://bit.ly/TryBetera.
