HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - Two New Jersey teens stole over $900 worth of merchandise and threatened to shoot a Hackettstown shop clerk during a Friday robbery, authorities said.
A 17-year-old from Hudson County and a 17-year-old from Monmouth County were located, arrested and charged in Independence Township. No weapon was shown or located, Hackettstown police said.
The Hudson County male was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree theft, third-degree terroristic threats, and second-degree conspiracy to commit the robbery.
The Monmouth County male was charged with third-degree theft, and second-degree conspiracy to commit the robbery.
On Feb. 25 at around 6:24 p.m., Hackettstown police responded to Good Guy Vapes at 78 Main St. for a reported armed robbery.
Police say a 17-year-old from Hudson County and a 17-year-old from Monmouth County entered the store to inquire about different products. The teens were unable to provide ID to make a purchase, and were then questioned by an employee about possibly being involved in a prior theft from the business.
The Hudson County male threatened to shoot the clerk with a .22, police said. The males then stole $937.16 in vape products and fled the store.
Both are lodged in the Morris County Juvenile Detention Center.
