Press release from Berkeley County School District: February 28, 2022 Black History Month begins on February 1 and ends on March 1 of each year. Many BCSD schools hold special events and activities during the month, but it should be made clear that black history is taught in all schools, year-long, as a part of regular instruction. Black History Month was first proposed by black educators in February of 1969, and the first celebration of the month took place in February of 1970.
