Stolen Vehicle Sparks Car Chase Across South Suburbs: Police

TINLEY PARK, IL — Three people are in custody after south suburban police from seven agencies pursued a stolen vehicle Monday night, according to police. Midlothian police said officers pulled over a car which was reported stolen from Midlothian Plaza Monday evening at around 6 p.m. While attempting to get the passengers out of the car, police said the vehicle took off. From there, police helicopters and units from multiple south suburban towns pursued the vehicle on Interstate 57 and Interstate 80 until authorities came back towards Orland Park where the vehicle was crashed at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. Units from Oak Forest, Midlothian, Markham, Country Club Hills, Tinley Park, Orland Park, Riverdale and Cook County Sheriff's deputies assisted in the chase. At least two people fled the vehicle on foot following the crash. As of 7:15 p.m., police said all suspects were in custody. Midlothian police identified the trio as 19-year-old Daniel Goodwin of Frankfort, 20-year-old Erik Holcomb of Midlothian and a 17-year-old girl from Chicago. Orland Park police told Patch there was still heavy police activity near 7000 159th Street following the crash but said there is no threat to the public. According to flight officials, two police helicopters were assisting in monitoring the vehicle chase.
