CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — A trash truck overturned in Cathedral City Monday, prompting a temporary closure of Varner Road. It was unclear if anyone was injured. City officials alerted the public at about 7:30 a.m. Monday that the truck had turned over on Varner Road, causing the street to be closed between Date Palm Drive and Mountain View Road. City spokesman Chris Parman said crews were expected to be at the scene until about noon to clear the accident. Parman recommended motorists use alternative routes such as Interstate 10 until the road reopens.
