Description
LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Sheriff's Department deputies and California Highway Patrol officers chased an armed suspect from the Lakewood area to Costa Mesa, where he was caught just before 1 p.m.
Deputies described the possible shooting suspect as "extremely dangerous." The high-speed chase traversed freeways and surface streets on the wrong side of the road.
The chase began shortly after noon near Alondra Boulevard and the Golden State (5) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. It ended just before 1 p.m., when the driver turned into a residential cul-de-sac in Costa Mesa near Newport Boulevard and Victoria Street.
He attempted to flee on foot, and was seen entering a parked vehicle at a nearby shopping center. However, he was unable to drive off.
According to aerial footage broadcast by KTLA, deputies caught up with him, disarmed him and cuffed him.
